Research background



Since its discovery, two-dimensional (2D) MXenes has become a research hotspot in various fields. More than 100 members of the MXenes family have been reported so far, and they exhibit amazing and fascinating properties such as electrical conductivity, microwave absorption, optical properties, and so on. Recently, it was found that the physical and chemical properties of carbon nitride MXenes are better than those of carbides MXenes. The N atom replaces the C atom in the carbon-nitride MXenes, and because N has higher electronegativity than C, its lattice parameters and electron distribution are changed, so the properties are also changed. With further research, MXenes is expected to fill the gap between emerging technologies and new material needs, playing an important role in key areas such as communications, stealth, and energy storage.


Result introduction



Recently,Professor Li Shibo and PhD candidate Zhang Weiwei from Beijing Jiaotong UniversityThe synthesis, properties and applications of 2D carbon nitride MXenes were systematically discussed and summarized, and the research prospects and limitations of carbon nitride MXenes were proposed. The result is to“Two‐dimensional carbonitride MXenes: From synthesis to properties and applications”The title was published inCarbon EnergyIn the journal。

1. The relation and difference between carbon nitride MXenes and carbide MXenes are discussed from the perspective of microstructure and electronic structure。

2. The synthesis and properties of carbon nitride MXenes were systematically summarized, and its application potential in energy storage, sensor, electromagnetic shielding and absorption, medical and other frontier fields was discussed。

3. The challenges in the development of carbon nitride MXenes are analyzed, and its application prospects and development opportunities are prospected。


Research summary



Although MXenes is a young member of the 2D material family, it has become a star material with its excellent properties. In this review, the existing research reports are discussed and summarized. Firstly, the preparation and structure of carbon nitride MXenes are introduced. Secondly, their thermal stability, photoelectric performance and applications in energy storage, sensor, electromagnetic shielding and absorption, biomedicine and other fields are summarized. At the end of the paper, the limitations and application prospects of carbon nitride MXenes are described. This paper will attract scholars from various fields to understand and pay attention to the new 2D carbon nitride MXenes, which will help to broaden its basic research and promote its industrial production and application.
